# Button/joystick maintenance

This procedure should only be used when repairing buttons and joystick modules, or removing buttons and joystick modules to use the ContactGlove as a dedicated motion capture glove.

DANGER

Please note that maintenance will not be covered under warranty if maintenance is performed in a manner other than that shown in the procedure below. If you do the repair yourself, the removed parts will no longer be covered under warranty. (Warranty applies to newly installed parts.) During repairs, if you overdo it and damage a part other than the part you were trying to repair, the warranty will not apply to that part. (We will guarantee against damage to other parts during repair, which we believe is clearly caused by our design failure.)

Examples of warranty exclusions: Use of tools such as pliers.

  1. Removing the connector
    removeconnector

Remove the button/joystick module connector from the ContactGlove body. Grasp the cable near the base of the connector and pull it out in a direction parallel to the direction of the connector as much as possible.

TIP

In general, when inserting and removing a connector, it is generally accepted that the plastic part of the connector should be grasped and removed without applying force to the cable. In general, the damage rate is lower if you pull out the cable instead of the plastic part of the connector, so please pull out the connector by holding the cable.

  1. Take out the cable
    removecable

Take out (unplug) the cable from the glove cloth, the pocket of the plastic housing.

  1. Module/cable replacement
    replacemodule

Please take out the replacement part sent from our company from the box. If replacing only the cable, remove the cable from the module and attach the new cable.

  1. Cable insertion

Pass the cable through the pocket in the reverse order of 2. Pass the joystick cable through the top pocket.

  1. Inserting the connector

Attach the cable to the main unit in the reverse order of 1.

To make it easier to insert the connector, give it a slight curl.

bendcable

Push the connector with your fingernail. If you have long nails, please be careful as it may require some force to push it in.

*In the photo, it is done with one hand, but please do it with both hands.
